Socks & Jumper

Its been ages since I posted and its due to the lack of knitting. I had become lazy in the evenings and was vegging out on the lounge instead of knitting. I'm thinking of all the knitting I could have had finished and started in over the last month.

With the colder months here I got stuck into Debbie's sock yesterday afternoon and finished the first one off. If you remember I had a problem in the warmer months of a rash developing after I had been knitting with the yarn.

I put the sock away until now and the rash came back even with the long sleeve shirt on. Not as bad and I am thinking with the cooler weather, this stopped it irritating me as much as well.

I'll leave it a couple of days and then get stuck into the second sock, so its not a single sock for months on end.

I wore a pair of my home made socks up into the Barossa Valley on Saturday and my feet were so warm. So much warmer than the bought socks.

Yesterday it was wet and very cold here, I took the afternoon off and sat watching DVDs and knitted some of Pat's jumper after the sock was finished.

Now I know how my mum used to knock over our jumpers as kids so quickly. Firstly she's be knitting kids jumpers and they were stocking stitch like this one.

I knitted up 2 X 50 gram balls of "Jet" yarn yesterday and does my right arm know it today. After all these years of knitting Aran and heavy cable adult jumpers, boy this one is a walk in the park.

Said to Pat if I can knock over a ball minimum an evening, he will have this jumper in less than a month. Now that is scary stuff. Wonder if I can achieve this?

Sitting and watching the rain fall and a good movie on the TV on a Saturday afternoon is such a great tonic to get one's mojo back.

Pat's Jumper

Finally Pat's 20th hand jumper is finished and ready for him to wear. By the time the cats laid on it, if left unguarded or me trying it on when sewing it together.

Pat doesn't like to be on the blog and that's okay, so I have modeled the finished jumper.

Big and warm and lovely to look at. Jumpers not too bad either... This pattern is also available in lady sizes.

Patrick's Jumper

As far as I have gotten so far today with Pat's jumper. Amy called in and we went out for a few hours shopping. Lost a lot of this afternoon I was gong to use for sewing up the jumper.

All that is left to do is sew the sleeves and then sew those sleeves into the arm area. The Pat can wear his jumper.

Not sure if this will be done after dinner tonight or left until tomorrow.

Millie has been sticking close to the jumper and if given the chance..... she's on the knitted pieces that I am not yet using.

Now That it's Cold

We've had over 2 inches of rain and its lovely and cold. So this means I can now sit a whole sheep and a couple of cats on my lap and not over heat.

The sweater neck line is easy as to finish off, just 11 rows of knitting and then sew it all together. With some help from the fur kids.

Nothing excites the cats more than a woolen project being worked on when its cold. Millie grabbed the lap spot first and made herself comfy. This left poor Harley out in the cold.

I need to turn my knitting without disturbing the Grand-kitty......... what is a Nanna to do???

Eight of the eleven rows are now knitted and Pat is getting excited about wearing his new jumper.

Hope to have a photo up tomorrow of the finished sweater.

Couple Of Finished UFO's

Finally finished tiding up the last sock of my "Raspberry" Monkey socks last night. So now they are ready for me to wear in the cooler months. Can't believe they sat in my knitting box for about 4 weeks.

Just love the colour and pattern of these socks. While they sat in my knitting box I was busy knitting at night and also sewing.

I also have finished off the "Cat's Paw" scarf for the stall.

Knitted with Moda Vera sentiments taking 2 skeins.

Only 6 rows of pattern to this scarf. And you can get the pattern free here .

Looking for a little lower in day temperature and I can spend the day in natural light, sewing up Pat's Aran jumper.

Next to finish off, is the little pink baby dress. In between I am slowly knitting Pat's sweater with "Jet" yarn.

Love It, Love It, Lurv It.

Oh yeah baby, I lurv my new sock.

Pattern is called Monkey. Just love the look, colour, feel and comfort of this pattern and how well it knitted up.

This is going to be a pair of socks picked first in my smalls draw, trust me.

What I found so addictive about knitting up this sock is that fact its fun, easy and fast to knit.

Started on the 7th and finished on the 9th.

Hope the other sock is just as quick to complete.

Raspberry Monkey Socks

Love knitting these Monkey socks. The pattern is very addictive. Very happy with the colourway and so can't wait until they are finished.

Even finding I am staying up late at night to knit my socks. If my knitting mojo had gone walk about.... its back now.

Socks, Socks, Socks.

Love knitting socks and as the Jaywalkers are all finished, I thought I would start on a pair for my sister Deb. Knitting the Thuja, as Deb found these to be very comfy over the winter months in the outback.

Looking like they have come from Ronald McDonald's wardrobe. I got to this stage after 1 evening's sitting that finished at about 11.30 pm. Had a quick shower and noticed my arms were stinging.

This is what came up overnight. Done some asking round as the only thing I have done different is knit with some different yarn that is still 100% wool by Patons. Wasn't itchy just hot and I could feel it on my arms.

So I am going to wait until its all cleared up, give it a couple of days clear and have another session with this yarn. If it happens again, we have the allergy pin pointed and I'll finish them off in the winter time when I am wearing long sleeves. It was suggested that the yarn may have more lanolin in it.

So what socks do I knit then??? A pair for me.

This yarn is by "Filatura Di Crosa" called "Maxine Print". The pattern I am knitting is called "Monkey". I have read a few posts about this pattern and thought when I went hunting for it, oh nice..........that'll do me just fine.

Easy as to knit, though I am wondering if the wool is going to be a bit heavy colour wise for it. I'll know more as it grows and then I'll see if I will continue or frog it.

I have some plain colours in cream sock wool..... maybe I could also knit a pair of these socks in 1 of those colour ways too.

Finished Jaywalkers

Finally finished my Jaywalker socks.

Not sure why it took just a dash over 4 months to knit? Maybe the hot weather had something to do with it and getting out of the habit of knitting at night.

I have been concentrating on my UFOs over the last couple of weeks. Feels great when a UFO is finished off. Allows me to head straight for the yarn stash and pick out some more yarn to turn into something fabulous.

Lovely and comfy and I think they so look snazzy on my feet. After wearing my own socks, I tend to find bought sock can be a tad on the tight side.

Rubbing hands together as I am about to start searching for another pattern, for the next pair of socks.

This is the yarn I will be knitting them with. I have started a thread over on Rav on the sock forum, hoping to hear of people's fav sock pattern.

Me & Ewe

It's finished as of 5 pm this afternoon. All 4 pieces are knitted and packed away until the cooler weather kicks in.

No way I am sitting this ewe on me in this hot weather. I'm thinking late March to early April before I stitch it together and knit the neck up.

Until then it's packed away in a knitting box in the craft room. Pat is all smiles now that he knows the jumper is just about ready for this coming winter.

This time round I knitted the back, then sleeves and finally the front. Usually I knit the back, front then sleeves. By this time I arrived at the front neck area, knew the 28 rows of pattern off by heart.

I was mean and told Pat I couldn't find the sleeves, but found a pile of the yarn in a knitting box. Said I was sick of the jumper and so disappointed the jumper wasn't finished after all. Yeah, yeah I know a mean trick...... lol. Should of seen his face.

Anyway to make up for it, I gave him the men's Inca & men's Jet knitting books and he choose a pattern for his new wool I collected this week.

I'm going to start the blue colour way yarn in the Jet. Treating myself to a stocking stitch jumper as Pat liked it with a button collar.

Patons book 1266.......... Style 20 (Raglan Button Collar Sweater)

Completely different to what Pat usually picks out for a jumper. I'll be able to knit this while asleep. Stocking stitch......... hope I don't get bored. So used to heavy cables and Aran jumpers for him.

I'll also start knitting my lizard ridge again and get a few of my other UFOs finished. Now the brown jumper is finished, I'm ready to relax and pick and choose what I knit at night.

Slowly Getting There.

Fourteen rows left and them I start to decrease at the underarm area of the last piece for Pat's sweater. I started this sweater back in Nov 07 and I must admit I'll be glad when the cast off row is done. Mind you I have done a lot of knitting in other areas at the same time.

With all the hot weather we have had in Adelaide, its hard to knit. We've had temps that are cooler and so at night I am able to knit for a couple of hours. I am finding my arms ache by the time I put it down for the night.

I'm not sure what you do to keep track of your rows, I like to write it all down.

That way when I am able to make sure its spot on when it needs to be repeated on another piece, to match up.

I also photo copy the pattern, so I can "highlight" the rows if the pattern is "busy". Scribble notes and mark any areas on the paper, I need to be aware of.

Anyway, my mojo is back and the knitting box is next to my chair in the lounge room.

I've Been Knitting.

No your not seeing things, I was actually sitting with knitting needles in my hands last night.

Cool enough to break the needles out and so I have been taking full advantage of this. Plodding away with Pat's jumper and surprisingly my arms were sore when I stopped a couple of hours later.

I have so enjoyed sitting and knitting again, missed it so much.

Hot weather is coming in again......bugger.

Is It 2009 Already??

OMG I can't believe its been so long since I posted here. Come to think of it, I haven't even been knitting either. Just so warm at the moment and so much happening here.

I have Pa visiting from Sydney, he's Pat's father. Such a lovely gentle man and we are sending so much time with him.

Been learning to sew and over on Stitch Selection, I have been busy.

Christmas Swap.

Today in the mail I received my Christmas swap we are doing over on Woolaholics.

Look what I got from Mazadaz. Just such a beautiful mixture of goodies.......

Mazadaz knew I had bought my first sewing machine and so along with a knitted angel that is already on our tree, a lovely collection of sewing goodies.

Plus a book on sewing...... I'll be using that for sure.....

Another Dishcloth

Another dishcloth knitted up for Amy to take when she leaves home in a fortnight. This one is a beautiful Vera Moda purple bamboo/cotton colourway. Knitted with 6.5 mm needles.

Figured if I knit the 4th and last dish cloth next weekend..... I'll have all 4 finished and ready for Amy to use. Three down and 1 to go.

This pattern is on Ravelry , which has so many cool patterns for free.

Sugar Plum Dress

Now that the back or front of the sugar plum dress is finished I thought you would like to see it.

This dress has a yoke and after all 4 pieces are knitted, the yoke will complete the dress. Such a pretty pattern and the front and back part of the dress are identical.

The yarn I am knitting with is a stunning 4 ply "cocoon" brand by Cleckheaton. I have fallen I love with this yarn as its so soft and holds the pattern perfectly. The material in this yarn is 70% merino wool and 30% nylon. Love the pink colourway, its so pretty.

Pattern is 8 rows, very easy to read and not complicated to follow.

Here is the dress from the knitting book. There is a jacket/coat in this style as well.

Two More Blocks

With me ironing this morning, I ironed two more blocks for my lizard ridge. Turned my back and look what happened.

I knew there would be a few arguments when the afghan is finished, but not so while being knitted. I was packing away the ironing and came back into the room and look who I found trying out the blocks.

Lucky is such a sucker for wool and as soon as she sees Pat or I wearing a woolen jumper, she's our best buddy.

Trust me, she didn't stay long.

Blocked and now packed away from prying paws. Love how these colours are working together in these 2 blocks. I have now 6 blocks knitted up.

Couple of other items I'd like to bring to your attention.

Also I have another blog as I am buying a sewing machine in the next week or two. So I have started a blog up about me learning to sew. Never used a sewing machine, so this should make for some interesting reading and more so interesting photos. Stitch Marker Swap

Joey-n has received her stitch markers I made for her in the Woolaholics "swap. So now I can show them off here.

I have never made them before, after asking some questions at the shop, I picked out what I wanted.

Loved the silver hearts with the pink bead on them. Had trouble getting the heart to sit properly and after swapping and changing the beads/heart around, I can up with these.

Took me all of Days Of Our Lives and Judge Judy to get the first one made.

I prettied up a craft bag for them to be stored in and into the mail they went.

I've heard from Joey and she's pleased with them.

My stitch markers came from Kelli and aren't they just FAB TAB??? I love how they are all able to be stored in the little bag. The pictures are on both sides and the little black cat is so cute. I think they are all cute and will love using them with my knitting.

Four Blocks Knitted

This project is by far the most enjoyable I have done in a long time. Just can't get over how using 3 balls of different colourway has given me 4 different blocks.

While out shopping yesterday I picked up another 5 balls of this colourway.

Picked these up at Spotlight at $2.99 a ball. I was told by one woman a few weeks back, this was going to be sold for $6.00 a ball. Still no price on the wire baskets and so I decided to see if they would match Kmart's price. Imagine my delight when I was told they sell the yarn at $2.99 a ball.

So I picked up 5 balls that visit and will buy more next fortnight.

One thing I will be learning with the Lizard Ridge is how to block. Never done this and I am guessing to get the best affective result on the eye, it'll need blocking.

Already planning on knitting a Lizard Ridge for Amy, so I'll just keep collecting a few balls each payday.

While Your Knitting.

Last night when I started knitting my Lizard Ridge I set "the scene" for knitting.

Learning a new pattern, I like to have the TV on with a DVD playing quietly in the background. Usually one I have watched enough, that I don't need to watch it, just listen. I find this to be relaxing for me as I get accustomed to a new pattern or technique.

Gone With The Wind kept me company as I started the afghan.

Do you have a special place where you like to knit or start a new project?

At times I also will stay up late into the night, to finish off an item. Just can't put it down, have to see what it looks like. Even been known to wake Pat up and show off the finished item.

Knitting can take over your life and drive you nuts....... great isn't it?

My cat Lucky has a wool fetish and loves winter time. She loves to snuggle up to Pat or myself when we have a pure wool knit on. I can see a few fights over my Lizard Ridge when it's finished.

Because I can.

Lizard Ridge Started

After fart arsing round last night I finally got to start my Lizard Ridge. The pattern is easier than what I thought it was going to be and in my first night I managed to knit half a block.

Very pleased with the look of the block. I can see this taking over my life and I must remember not to neglect my other UFOs.

I am wondering how it would go knitted in 8 ply as I have a pile of different colourways of green and cream yarn for a different blanket. Somehow I have lost interest in that style of blanket.....thank goodness I haven't started it yet.

Two More Dishcloths

Due to there being a failed holdup and the robber being killed by police in the street next to us, I didn't start my Lizard Ridge last night.

Police were everywhere and we weren't allowed outside our houses. Very scary and very full on here.

So I finished off my pink dishcloth and tidied up Amy's as well. Just couldn't get myself to settle enough to look at the pattern.

Blue Ruffled Booties Pattern

Melissa asked me where I sourced the pattern for those little pink & blue ruffled booties I knitted up.

It's from a book that I was given to me when mum died back in 1994. I inherited all my mum's knitting books & needles. So it is an old pattern book. So old it doesn't have an IBN number.

I popped a scan of the book cover up to help you Melissa and other people who are interested in this booties pattern.

Melissa if you have problems finding the pattern, email me at my ducksrus address and I help you out.

From now on, when I start a pattern from one of my books, I'll pop as much info as possible with the cover to help you ID the book.

Lizard Ridge

For a long time, so long I can't remember when I first saw this pattern and fell in love with the whole idea of knitting one for myself.

I would often visit the websites that had photos of it and dream about me kitting it as well.

Dream no more. For today that dream has become reality.

Lizard Ridge is the pattern I have been drooling over.

I have picked vintage hue yarn to knit the afghan with. Fell in love with this yarn even more so when I saw it in the shops. Pays to look round when pricing the yarn as Spotlight was double the price of Kmart. Some of the yarn is on layby and will be picked up in the next few weeks.

Feeling very excited and at some part over whelmed that I can actually able to cast on. Going to have a good read of the pattern and jump in feet first.

Fairy Floss Coat Finished

Finally finished the little coat yesterday. I have spent countless hours today, sewing it together. I think I knitted the sleeves quicker than what I sewed the coat up.

This coat is for sale and if not sold before the stall next year, I'll sell it there.

Very proud of this little coat and I am sure it'll make a mum & dad very happy to see their baby wearing it.

White Ruffled Booties

This afternoon, I was able to sew up and finish off the white ruffled baby booties. These are the same as the pink ruffles I knitted early this month.

Pat took this photo of me sewing up the booties. I needed a light as babies wool and 2 different colours sewn together.... needs all the help it can get.

Used Pat's macro lens to show you the seam join of the booties. I don't usually pat myself on the back in public, but I will here.

Just so stoked and proud of my sewing efforts when it comes to my knitting. I take a lot of pride in my knitting. Just wanted to show the sewing side off to you.

Not bad for someone who refuses to sew buttons on her shorts and uses safety pins instead.

Finished booties. These will either be given to a baby boy when I meet him or the stall Debbie & I are having next year.

For Amy

Our daughter Amy moves out in 6 weeks and I want to give her a fun house warming gift. Four hand made dish cloths will remind her of me as she washes her and Ben's dishes.

Starfish was knitted up last night watching a DVD and tidied up this morning. I used some cotton yarn that was sent to me.

Very easy to knit and looks "funky" as Amy would say.

Outside My Square

Have you ever thought to step out of your square? I don't do it all that often and when I do.....I think why didn't I do this earlier?

Over on woolaholics we are having a "stitch marker" swap and I was nervous about joining in, as I haven't ever done anything with beads before.

But I thought, why not give it a try and I added my name to the swap.

On Tuesday while in the city I had a look for some beads and came away with some goodies.

I have a couple of photos of the completed stitch markers and after my swapper has them, I'll post the photos.

Look what Pat found for me...... a set of 5 pliers with girlie coloured handles and a container for keeping my beads safe in.

Took me a bit to make my first stitch marker (thank goodness the bags of beads came with extras) After a couple of trial markers and learning I can do this, I had fun.

First marker took all of Days Of Our Lives and 15 mins of Judge Judy to make. The rest fell into place.

I think I have another craft passion

Just For Fun.

Last night after I finished the Jaywalker sock off, I tried to start the second one. Gave up after a couple of attempts to get it started. Couldn't for the life of me, get past the first few rows.

Figured if I was going to sit and watch TV I could knit something for fun.

Squidge dish cloth, over on Ravelry was the one I picked, to use up some spare cotton that was sent to me early this year.

I made mine more rectangle than square, measuring 18 cm X 27 cm.

I was looking through the left over yarns in the "left over yarn" knitting box and found some 3 ply blue baby wool. So figured I'd knit a blue pair of ruffled booties as well.

Just going to amble from 1 project to another for a while. Rather than the UFO's that are looking at me, each time I go into the lounge room.

Oops!!!!!!

Oops says it all.

Where my finger is pointing, is where the turn of the heel ended up. Not sure how I came to think the toe was the next step (pardon the pun) in completing the sock.

You can see the top of the sock also isn't running evenly around my leg, due to the heel being out of place.

I have just finished frogging the toe and putting the stitches back onto the 4 DPN needles.

When I went to bed last night, I told Pat what had happened and I so wanted to sort the mistake out last night. But I knew better, as I was tired and annoyed that I didn't check the heel area better.

Otherwise I am very happy with how the sock is turning out.

Oh well, we learn from our mistakes.

Pink Ruffle Booties

A friend emailed me the other day, to say she's a first time Granny. Her eldest daughter delivered a beautiful healthy baby girl.

Nothing like a good reason to break out the booties patterns and pick one to knit.

Took me 2 days to knit these, while still doing the normal house hold things and going to the specialist with Pat.

First time I have knitted a ruffled set of booties. This is a 3 ply pattern and I knitted with Patons "Dreamtime" wool.

Finished and ready to be posted to the proud new parents with a card.

Jaywalker Update

Took this photo myself and the angle could have been a bit better. Any hoooow.

Oh I am just so in love with the pattern of this sock. Just the whole style of this sock and the way the zig-zag is...has me so excited. Already planning my next pair and thinking of a hot pink colour way.

I'm not overly keen on high leg socks and I tend to look for ankle socks at the shops. So this pair I can see being picked from the sock draw first, every time.

Jaywalking Socks

I love looking over on Ravelry at what people have completed or still knitting. The sock section on the forums is a special place I love to visit.

One of the patterns I have fallen in love with is Jaywalking , so much so I have decided to knit a pair of these up.

I've got heaps of sock wool in my knitting boxes and so now I just have to decide what colour way I am going to knit them in.

What I love about this pattern is how the sock knitted up ....seems to speak volumes. "Look at me, I'm talking to you" and how different each sock can look when knitted in different colour ways.

Not putting a time limit on my socks, as long as they are knitted before I'm too old to remember what socks are used for.

Baby Booties

These booties are for a lady who is retiring and wants to give a card to a mum to be..... at work.

White booties are a 3 ply high leg set. Pattern is from a full layette set. Very easy to knit and very cute.

My sister asked me if parents dress their babies with booties as part of their clothing. I have no idea and would love to know. Used booties with Amy & James but this was 23 & 21 years ago.

Baby Coat

With a few days of hot weather here, a baby item to be knitted up is just what I need to keep me occupied as I hide from the heat.

I bought this wool a few weeks back and in the last couple of days I have nearly completed the back of the coat.

Up to the underarm is all lace and then stocking stitch takes over. Coat is knitted in 4 ply and has a matching bonnet to go with it.

Close up of the pattern.

There are 8 rows to this pattern with 7 stitches repeated. The bottom of the coat is a picot edging as well the collar and front edges.

Amy's Scarf

Finished Amy's scarf today. Its 2 metres long before the tassels were added.

Pretty darn warm wearing it today while Pat took photos. Temp is 32 degrees today.

Very happy with the end results and being the first time I have added tassels to anything, doubly happy with it now its all completed.

I hope Amy will be happy with it as well, its a Christmas stocking filling.

Last couple of days I have been knitting and enjoying it heaps.

Blue Coathanger

After venting about the slowness of Pat's jumper yesterday I decided this afternoon to knit another coathanger for myself. First time I have used one of the little embroidered flowers I bought on my shopping day with Deb.

I think the flower finishes the coathanger off, being as its all one colour. Feel really good about making something for myself, even if its only a quick item.

Still Here.

I'm still knitting, gardening, cooking and just taking each day and night as they come.

Trying to get Pat's jumper finished. This is becoming a bit of a chore, as I so want it to be finished with and packed away. Sat watching Cat Ballou on TV this afternoon and knocked a few rows over.

I spent all day yesterday baking biscuits and that finished at 6:15pm roughly. By the time I had a shower and then did dinner...... fell into bed at 9 pm and slept.

I must call in and say hi on woolaholics too. Been a week or so since I dropped in there.

Really need a couple of extra hours in a day for those "catch up items". But then I guess I'd be looking for more hours again as I'd try and do more new things........and not finish off those on my white board.

Love reading other people's blog, be they gardening or craft. Some have small children and seem to knock over knitted items quicker than me. Wonder what their secrets for do this is???

Anyhow, just letting you know I am still knitting... and breathing.

Something New Swap

I'm sitting and knitting Pat's jumper (seems to be never ending) and thought, I haven't posted my "swap" photos yet.

I am so sorry I haven't popped them up yet.

With the "something new" swap over on Woolaholics I choose to knit a lace item. The whole idea of this swap, was to step outside the comfort zone a knitter can get into.

I also wanted it to be something I hadn't knitted before and so I picked, a scarf.

Its an old Shetland pattern called "cat's paw". I used Moda Vera "Trinity".

This scarf was for "Shannon" I knitted the length to 82 inches and after all those rows, I know the 6 rows of pattern off by heart.

I enjoyed knitting it so much I bought wool for a scarf for myself and some for the stall.

My swap was sent by "Seastar" and it's just stunning.

Green is my most fav color and this bag was knitted and then felted. First time I have ever seen or held a knitted object that has been felted.

Just love it along with the counter bracelet, chocolate and tea.

Knitting swaps are heaps of fun and I just love joining in with the spirit these are knitted & sent in.

Gloves Finally Finished.

Finally finished the rainbow gloves for my stall. I sat down yesterday with Season 3 of "Supernatural" in the afternoon and finished them off just before I went to bed.

Happy with them and love the mixture of colours.

So easy to knit and I have no idea why it took so long to get the second one knitted??

Anyway all done and packed away in the knitting box of stall items.

Now for the next item.

500 Reasons To Go Craft Shopping

Wednesday this week I took a scratch ticket back to the newsagency, as I had won a few dollars. I decided to invest this in a game of "spot 5" on Keno and won $500.00.

Couldn't believe my luck and after giving a share to Pat the rest was earmarked for a shop day with my sister Debbie the next day.

Deb & her family were down from the sheep station and we had from 8 am to 3 pm together in the city shopping in Lincraft and Spotlight.

Deb & I spent 1.5 hours in each shop, as we had lots to look at and talk about. No hubby's in the background wondering how long before we'd be leaving the shops.

Deb is into sewing and quilting, me as you know loves knitting. So lots to look at and lets now look at what I bought.

I had this book in the house, I picked it up a couple of trips back to Spotlight, lots of small projects and just what I want for our stall, we are working on. So this trip I started to buy "stuff" for the items I want to knit.

Three pages of teapots, how cool is that?? And this is the beginning of a list of toys, hot water bottle covers, coathangers and other goodies.

This wool is earmarked to knit a couple of teapot #7 in the first photo. I think its a lovely teapot cosy.

This is earmarked to maybe # 8 (first photo) and # 4c in second photo.

I am aiming for the thoughts of buyers, thinking ....this is a one off teapot cosy.

My main aim was picking up a sock book at Spotlight and some new wool they had on sale.

I wanted an ankle sock and loved the one in this book.

Out of the 6 new 100 gram balls I picked these 2 colours. These 2 balls are for me.

I also with Deb's help bought a glue gun and glue sticks as I want to be able to add flowers to the coat hangers I have knitted.

We had lots of fun looking at & picking out the packets of flowers.

I think the middle coat hanger needs a flower on it. Just to take away the plainness of it. Also to dress up the set when selling them. Also with the patterns in the "Big Book:" in the first photo.

I bought these....cos' I liked them and I could. Also picked up a smaller plastic box like my knitting box, for storing all the craft items in.

I sprung for lunch in "Billy Baxter's" and just enjoyed the day bonding with a fellow crafty person.

Oh yes and I still came home with $$$$ in my purse.

Enjoying My Knitting

Last few days I have been enjoying my time knitting. I have a nasty virus that has gone through our home, so knitting has kept me occupied.

No gardening and not a lot of house work over the last few days.

Finished another beanie for my stall. I'll take a photo of it tomorrow and post it.

Started a scarf for myself and knocked another ball over with Amy's scarf.

Posted off my swap for Woolaholics.

Best thing about having 6 WIP, I can knit how I feel at the time.

Fairy Floss

As its now spring and not a lot of cold times left for wearing jumpers, I have decided not to push for the finish of Pat's jumper. As long as it's finished by the start of Autumn, new for next winter. Pat can wear the countless jumpers I have already knitted for him, until then.

So today I cleaned out my Knitting Box and picked out a couple of new projects.

This little baby set is called Fairy Floss. I have scanned the photo from my knitting book, so you have an idea of what I want to knit. It's going to be knitted in a cream 4 ply wool, Patons Dreamtime.

Also I have started another beanie for my stall. This baby outfit will also go towards my stall, unless its sold or needed before hand.

Finished my Woolaholic "Something New" swap last night. All wrapped and ready for the post on Monday. Very proud of my effort and can't wait to be able to show you the end result, after my swapper has received it.

I have a cold that my family has shared round, so I'll have plenty of time for knitting. As I haven't much energy for anything else.

Beanie

After making a heap of mistakes in my "Something New" swap on Sunday...think it was frogged 4 times. Said to Pat I need to do something easy and less stressful.

So I knitted a ladies beanie for my stall.

Started it yesterday afternoon and had it all sown up last night. Sure felt good for doing something so easy. Amy had a boo-peep at it and said, "I could wear this". Made me feel even better.

Knitted in "Yarn Bee" Seasoned Spice #075.

On the way to bed last night I walked into a door and my left arm is sore and swollen today. Aching like hell and taking pain killers, every 4 hours. Really hope it doesn't slow the knitting down. As time is drawing to a close for this swap.

Last Day Of August

Earlier this month I said I wanted to have Pat's jumper finished or so close it didn't matter that it was not completed.

I have failed miserably. Though I have some good valid reasons it's not finished.

James our son was injured at work in the middle of this month and so I was like his dad very busy worrying about his head injuries and the threat of loosing a leg if it got worse.

Once James was out of hospital I was busy cooking meals and taking them to his place, as he didn't want to come and stay with us.

Had the stitches out of his ear the other day, Pat stopped counting after 18 were removed. So glad the plastic surgeon was able to save his ear.

James is still not back at work and the soft tissue damage to his leg will take time to heal. But he's all in 1 piece and as a mum, can't get better wishes granted than this.

My "Something New" swap gift is coming along really well. Very pleased with the results of it so far. Nearly time to get it ready to post off. So I am concentrating on this project at the moment.

So Pat's jumper has once again taking a back seat.

After all the pattern knitting I did yesterday, I wanted something easy to knit last night. So I have started Amy's scarf and it's be given to her as a stocking filler this Christmas.

Really getting into this sort of yarn of late. Showed it to Amy and she said, "I can wear that." This makes it easy, when knowing the wearer will actually wear the item.

Its just 25 stitches and knitted all in garter stitch. I'm letting the yarn do all the talking. The yarn is by Koala and it's called "Foxy" and the colourway is cream.

Been a busy month, wonder what September will bring me???

Pat's Jumper

Last night I finished of the first sleeve on Pat's jumper. Just have the other sleeve and front to go and then I'll just have the finishing touches to go.

I like to use pen and paper to keep track of my rows, as I also make notes if I need too. So with knitting the second sleeve, I just cross off the rows I kept record for the 1st sleeve. In theory both sleeves will match up 100%.

Already increasing the rows, every 4th row and thought I would count up how many rows left to knit. Theres 159 rows of the sleeve to go. Pat's comment when I told him was, "lucky its not 160 rows"

I started this jumper in November last year and though I have done so much knitting while plodding along with his jumper, I want it finished. Haven't told Pat why though.

Found a pattern I knitted years ago before the kids were born, for myself. That yellow wool I was given by Cosmic Gardener will be used to knit it again. Can't really start a jumper for myself, if I have Pat's still on the go.

So the time I have given for having Pat's jumper finished is end of August. Every minute my hands are free, I am knitting my little heart out. At night I am putting in as many hours I can.

Hoping to have a men's jumper to show you at the end of this month.

A Thread Of This & That

One glove finished and 1 glove to go. I can't not waste left over wool from a completed project. This black wool is from a jumper I knitted for James years ago. Now some of it is being put towards some bright gloves for my stall.

I'm knitting a "something new" in a swap through Woolaholics . Wish I could pop up a photo of what its looking like at the moment.

Really pleased with the results of what I have chosen to knit. Right outside my usual line of knitting I do.

Once my swapping partner has received it, I'll pop a photo up to show everyone. Going to knit one for myself and also for the up coming stall.

I'm in the mood to do a baby's jumper/jacket and so I'll pick out some wool and have a peek a boo over on Ravelry and in my books I have.

World Vision Guardian Angels Program.

Three hats are finished and ready for posting. I tried to make a woolen tassel for the hats, but I couldn't. Figured the hat was more important than a tassel on the children's head.

I'd like to thank my 3 models "Leo" the Holden Lion, Teddy Bear & What's His Name.

Also thanks to Jackie for bringing this to my attention along with other knitters. I hope my 3 hats and a baby jacket I knitted awhile back, will help to keep 4 children warmer.

I shall be keeping my eyes open for this project again next year.

Feeling very special today after the mailman delivered 3 parcels to our front door this morning.

This RAOK is from someone over on Ravelry. I have no idea who could have sent me all these lovely goodies. Thank you so much and I do hope someone does something very kind to you as well.

Chocolates are yummy and the ribbon wool is so soft and I am soooooooooooo excited about finding something to knit with it for me. Of course

Love the tea and teapot set, only way to have tea is from a pot.

Spotlight Sales

This morning Pat took me to Spotlight at Clover Crest as I needed a set of knitting needles. Long way to go for a pair of needles. So on the way we called into Tupperware and replaced some damaged lids and bottoms of containers.

Wool was on special and on clearance. So what started off as a pair of needles and 4 balls of wool, turned into an over flowing basket of wool.

The reason I have named the shop and location, is due to any of my readers who love a bargain and live near the shop.

Lets take a look at what I bought and what its ear marked for.

I want to knit a lacy scarf for myself, this was reduced to $1.99 a ball.

The balls of wool below, are ear marked for ladies winter hats. At $2.00 a hat to knit and then my price on top, will turn a handy profit.

They say about going into a stupidmarket and buying on impulse. Going from what wool I was going to buy and putting it back for these reduced balls......This isn't impulsive buying....just plain smart shopping in my books.

Knitting For World Vision

I have decided to knit some items for World Vision through the Guardian Pharmacy.

Going along gang busters and was happy with what I have done......

The POW it hit me, these gloves will be too big for a child.

So I'll put them aside and knit hopefully 3 hats from the above link. Man so lucky I realized my mistake before I ran out of time.

Pat's Jumpers

Pat asked me the other day, "How is my jumper coming along"?

Nice hint to, "is my jumper ever going to be finished"??? So I made a new rule small knitting in the day time and adult jumpers in the evenings.

How is it going you ask???? Not good
Pat's jumper is growing, socks haven't moved at all.

This photo was taken early in the week and I have since removed the stitch markers. Thought I'd knit the sleeves before I tackle the front of his jumper.

So I shall continue to try and use this system of socks, gloves and other small knits through the day and Pat's jumper in the evenings. Something will be finished down the track, that is about the only thing I can safely say will be happening.

Must say though, its nice to be knitting and seeing Pat's jumper grow.

More On My Sock

Today is such a cold wet day here, steady soaking rain measuring 4.5 mm. So no outside today, inside with my knitting and watching DVDs.

Thought I'd show you where I am up to again with these socks of mine.

Love the whole look of this self patterning wool and the almost finished sock feels so comfy on my foot. Once again I had to thread wool through the stitches and remove the DPNs for me to try it on.

One of those balls of wool for each sock, so I am making sure I have enough wool left over to knit the rib at the top of this sock.

More than happy with how this whole sock is knitting up.

Love These Socks

Taking a while to knit up, though after I had taken this photo I had knitted up the heel and now on the leg part.

Can't wait to have these socks finished and able to wear them. Just love the whole look of the self patterning of them.

Using "tulip" brand bamboo in a 2.5 size DPN I had to thread some different colour wool through the stitches and remove the DPN's. That way I could try the sock on before I started the heel part.

This 4 ply sock wool, sure is lovely to knit with, even if it takes ages for it to grow.

KAL Finished

My socks for the KAL on woolaholics is finished

Just scrapped in too, as Amy is off to America this Thursday morning.

When she tried on a sock for a fitting, she said they were geeky in a funky way. Guess that means the socks are fully sick.

It was interesting to note when a fitting was happening that Amy's foot is a big toes length longer than my foot.

Funny what one can find out about one's own child if time is spent with them.

This & That On My Needles.

I sometimes wish I had more hours in the day. But then would I use those extra hours to get a list of jobs done, or would I just make more unfinished jobs?

Some nights I am just too tired to pick up my needles of late. Now that things have slowed down some, I hope this will change.

These socks are going to be mine and this is some of that sock wool I bought back a few weeks ago. Just love the way the wool is knitting up and the self patterning as it grows.

Using bamboo DPNs by "Tulip" to knit the socks. Wow are they just a beautiful brand to knit with.

Amy is off to the good old USA on the 17th July and to get her socks knitted, I have joined a Thuja KAL on Woolaholics.

Then I found out my Step Mum needs a pair of woolen gloves for her hands when out walking. So this Tuesday when we go up to Port Augusta to visit her and Dad, I'll take the wool I have bought for her and see if she's happy with the colour.

So busy here and so trying to keep on top of what I want to do and trying not to add to the growing list of WIP.

My Cable Swap:)

I am so slack as my cable swap arrived back early this month and I have only just found time ( or should that read, made time) to pop photos up here to show you all.

Having thanked my secret swapper over on Woolaholics, I haven't actually showed the items off.

I love this skein of wool, so lovely and bright. I love bright wool too. The soaps are from "Amazing Soaps" and they smell so divine.

Then there are these most beautiful cabled gloves.

How gorgeous are they ?? I took them with me to Burra when we did a day trip up there and my hands stayed warm all day.

Colour is a beautiful soft green and green is my most favourite colour.

Love the idea of not having my fingers covered as it means I can get money out of my purse without taking my gloves off.

Soakers All Finished.

At last I have finished Candice's trial soakers

I knitted them in different colours as each stage was posted, at the beginning. I had no idea what I was knitting and so I need to understand what I was knitting. So I thought the best way, was to use different colours.

As there are no babies in my house and I couldn't get a cat to sit still long enough........ I have used the next best thing....... my teddy.

Now if your going to laugh...be kind, as Teddy will be 45 years old this year and he's a bit sensitive.

Less UFO's In My Knitting Box.

Out of 5 UFO's this time last week....only 1 left to be finished off.

Candice's soakers and I'll be printing the last of the instructions off her blog tomorrow. I did want to do these soakers first, but it didn't work out that way.
In the last 7 days I have

Completed and posted off the "Cable Swap" on woolaholics.
Finished off Heather & Emily's coat hangers.
My gloves are finished and kept my hangs warm the other morning, when out walking.
Tonight the Rainbow Hot Socks were finished off.

So 4 out of 5 item on the UFO list is a pretty good out come. Though I was hoping to have all 5 finished.

Already I am thinking of new projects I want to start. Its never ending

Thought I'd show you the cable up close from the cardigan I am frogging.

Calling Agents Mulder & Scully.

For the next 7 days there will be "UFO"s floating around the house.

After finishing the back of Pat's jumper, I said the UFO's will be finished off or darn close to it. Then I can start some new project as well as knit Pat's jumper.

I want to knit up a green and cream blanket for us to use. The last blanket was crochet from left over balls of wool after years of knitting jumpers.

So lets take a look at those UFO's I am hoping to have finished by this time next Sunday.

On the left is Candice's soakers I have been test knitting for her. After being so sick for that fortnight......I have lost my way in finishing them off. So I have this at the top of my list.

The pink and blue toning of rectangle items are 6 adult coathangers for my 2 nieces in Sydney. Pink tones for Emily and blue for Heather. All that is needed is for me to buy the hangers on Tuesday and stitch them up.

Fuchsia gloves are for me. The other day we went walking early and my hands were cold. Boy I sure wished they were finished off and in use that morning.

Hot rainbow socks also need to be finished off.

Not in the photo is the Woolaholic's cable swap. Not sure if my swapper reads my blog.....so until she receives the swap....no photo.

So there you have it........ enough UFO's in the house in encourage agents Mulder & Scully to drop by and snoop round.

Having A Ball.

First of the wool now washed, dried and balled.... ready for knitting.

Pat & I balled up 12 skeins today and we have another 10 skeins in soaking and will be hung out on the line after I have finished posting this update.

In The Skein Of Things.

After nearly "frogging" a whole male adult 12 ply cardigan last Saturday, I had to wait for the beautiful rain to clear up.

Today is that day....yahoo....

Ten skeins ready to be washed. Decided that was a good number to start with as I have never seen this being done.

After hunting down the coat hangers to make sure I hadn't aimed too high, into the hot water with wool wash...... the skeins went for a couple of hours. The hot water helps to relax the wool.

I had faith in the people encouraging me to take this step, but after seeing the wool so creased with the memory of the pattern....... I was doubtful, but knew it would work.

That is were I am up to at the moment. Looks like spaghetti hanging out on the line. Once its dry, I'll ball it and then its ready to be re-knitted up again. Same pattern, just a smaller size.

I just can't get over how this project is getting me as excited as what it is.

Boy I really must love Pat to go to all this trouble (not that it is that) to have him wear his cardigan and have it fit properly.

Pick, Pick And More Picking.

I actually found unpicking the seams rather restful. Not as hard as what I thought it was going to be. Also by the end of the job, I was able to read my own sewing of the seams.

About 4 hours to unpick the cardigan while I listened to some helpful soothing CD's. Pat kept me company and supplied lunch and cuppas on request. Just pottered along at a calm pace and enjoyed the experience.

A few "Craps", "Bugger, bugger" and 1 "I gotch ya, ya bastard" when looking for the start of a thread for a new area.

All ready now to be frogged. Going to leave it at this stage for the day, watch tonights weather and see when the sun is going to be shinning and the showers not falling.

Then I'll frog it and put into skeins for the next stage, the day before I wash the wool and hang it on the line.

Love this recycling idea.... such a waste having the pure wool cardigan up in the cupboard.

Bonding With Kermit The Frog

I have no idea why I am smiling in the photo. Maybe it's because I haven't a clue what I have gotten myself into today.

This cardigan is one I knitted for Pat a few years ago. With him being sick now, he's lost a lot of weight and the cardigan is now too big for him.

Now that I have been introduced to the word "frog" I am going to do the very thing with this cardigan.

This is a 12 ply wool and I just love the colour. I'll knit the same pattern again for Pat to wear next winter.

There is another cream 12 ply of his waiting to be "frogged" as well as a red jumper of mine with a polo neck ....not keen on the neck line.

With the rain and cold weather here in Luckyland.... I'll get the cardigan "frogged" and ready for washing, as we have some sunny days and temps in the 20's later this week.

So think of me.... calmly "frogging" all day and hopefully not in my sleep tonight.

Hot Rainbow Socks

While I was sick with the head cold I still wanted to knit. So instead of working on my heavier knits of pattern, I started these socks.

This wool was sent to me by Mooska in a RAOK earlier this year.

Lovely and bright, knitted in a stocking stitch, making it easy with a foggy head. I used a pattern I found on the Lincraft site.

The red marker near my toes is where the heal is. So these are a nice long sock. I have another 3 balls of "hot sock" wool just off lay-by from Lincraft.

Pretty well over the cold now, so I'll be able to get back into the swing of knitting the heavier WIP.

At the moment I am in a glove mode so the quench this thirst, I am knitting some.

This pair knitted in fuchsia are for me. We were out walking the other morning and my hands were cold. I so need a pair of gloves.

Easy as to knit up and Amy's friend said how hard it is to find patterned gloves like this at the shops. So I will knit some different styles for my craft stall.

Making Me Feel Better

Today was a funny old day for me. Pat went to his last gym session and I stayed home as I have this shocking cold. I now have hardly any voice and feel like crap.

So I did all the ironing while he was away and packed the clothes away and hung a wet load of washing on the line outside.

By then I was stuffed and figured it was time for me to sit down and have a rest. So I thought the midday movie on 7 would be nice.

Well by 20 past midday I was in tears as the little dog at the vet was doing such a wonderful job acting, that when it pretended to be put to sleep ..... I felt like it had and burst into tears.

So I changed channels and listened to Dr. Phil while I went hunting for some Flurry to knit myself a pink coat hanger to make me feel better.

And it worked too.

All finished and making me feel so much better.

The shirt I hung on the finished coat hanger. My very first coat hanger for myself......nice to knit one for myself and I am going to see if there are more old wooden hangers up with clothes hiding the age of them. The hook had lost all its shine and sliding the white piping over it took all my strength.

Anyway it worked... I'm feeling good again.....

Another Red Sock

Deb was so impressed with her red socks I knitted, that I have knitted her another red pair. This time I have used the Thuja sock pattern.

Debbie likes her socks to be a snug fit, so I have knitted these on a 3.75 needle size. I must say the sock fits my foot better than the blue set I knitted myself. So for a ladies size 8 foot, I'd knit this sock pattern on 3.75 mm needles.

I was so pleased with the feed back on the red dress socks I did for Deb. Her MIL was so sure I knitted them on a knitting machine as my stocking stitch is so even. Told Debbie to tell her MIL I used DPNs to knit them and this would impress her even more.

My Wool Stash

My wool stash is growing to the stage where I need another knitting box.

This came in the mail today from a lovely lady called Yeehah. The wool will be put to good use and I say thank you so much for your gift.

I'm really going to have to look at another knitting box after this mornings mail.

This knitting box I work from and all WIP are stored here.

This knitting box has wool that is either allocated to a project or sets of wool that can be used on an item.

This knitting box contains completed items and left over wool, that just comes in so handy for those little items.

Soakers

I'm helping Candice trial her soaker pattern along with some other knitters.

Interesting part is I had never seen or heard of soaker's until I joined woolaholics. So I am really knitting blind in a way.

No glossy photo of the said finished item, to compare my knitting too. But I must say I am enjoying the challenge.

So I thought I'd better post a photo of what I have knitted so far, just in case I'm not reading the instructions correctly.

So this photo is for Candice and anyone who is helping with the soaker knit along....

I am doing each section in a different colour, so I can understand how the pattern works and know what I am doing. Also if I do it wrong, I know what part to frog

Anastasia Socks Completed

Yay!!!!

I have finished my first pair of 4 ply socks, with the wool Sam sent me. I have enjoyed knitting these and I can't wait to wear them. Warm here again and I am bare footed until evenings.

Front view of them, love how the pattern spirals around the feet and lower leg .

Back view and out of interest the left sock was knitted second. I am more happier with the finishing off of the top on the left sock. I have put it down to being more used to knitting 4 ply wool on 2.75 mm DPNs.

The sole of the socks had no pattern in it.

I am pleased very pleased with the end results of the socks. But I do need to learn how to not have the ladder in the stockinette part, where the needles separate the pattern. It's not prominent, but I know its there.......

Oh I am so addicted to socks

Child Coat Hangers

Settled in last night and finished off the 6 child coat hangers. I just need to find some beige plastic tubing for the metal hook.

Looking at selling 3 in a packet when I have them all wrapped. Also on the lighter coloured coat hanger, a matching flower of the main colour.

Thanks Woolaholics

Yesterday I started knitting my "cool cable swap" over on Woolaholics and I wish I could show you what I am knitting. But your going to have to wait until next month at the earliest.

I'm just so pleased with how it's turning out. So much I want to do the same for me.....

Getting to be a habit of late, knit something for someone and then putting it on my list of wants.

One thing I must say, since joining Woolaholics I have learnt there is more out there to knit besides jumpers of all ages and sizes.

I am even being a test knitter for Candice on her soaker pattern. Thats pretty exciting stuff as I haven't seen a pair of soakers in my life, only photos.

Also I am talking about buying another knitting box, to put all my knitted goodies in. That way I'm not rummaging through them looking for wool in my "open wool" box that those completed items are being stored in at the moment.

So for that reason I say thank you to all the people over on Woolaholics as they have opened up my eyes to this most wonderful world of....... wool & cotton threads.

Little Items

I have had a wonderful time knitting up these little quick numbers. So different from knitting a huge project, like an adult jumper. These are my first attempt at knitting face washers or dish cloths.

This is the bamboo cotton I was sent by Mooska yesterday. I made a face washer with it and its just so soft on my face when I used it this morning. Oh I am in love with this cotton........

8 ply 100% cotton knitted into a dish cloth. Said to Amy, didn't it just make her want to go out into the kitchen and do the dishes for me???? Going from the look on her face...... no

Our Craft Stall

Some of the items my sister Deb will be selling at our stall. As you can see, Deb is very clever with the sewing needle.

This is for me, I keep loosing my scissors and with this lovely scissor tag hanging from them... shouldn't be a problem. Deb made the tassel first and then the beads were added.

My first item for our joint stall.

Thinking of a bow or a flower for a finishing touch. I have 6 to make for children's wardrobes. I'll also be doing an adult size as well.

I Have Been RAOK Again

Today I was given a amazing surprise when the postman knocked on our door.

I have been RAOK again and this time from Mooska.

Bamboo cotton for washers, jazzy sock wool for my feet, tea bags for a relaxing cuppa and 2 chocolates that look too pretty to eat.

What a beautiful person you are Mooska for roarking me. Thank you so much.

Oh I am so going to do a couple of RAOKs when the quarterly bills are out the way. As I am sure giving someone the pleasure I am feeling now, must be such a beautiful feeling.

Preparing For A Craft Stall.

Last month I asked my other crafty sister Deb, if she was interested in doing a craft stall in 2009.

Reason I suggested making it for next year, we will be starting from scratch and will have nothing for our first stall. Also give me time to look into where and how we go about becoming involved in a craft festival.

So tomorrow while in the city, I am going to start buying and making craft items with knitting as my theme. Deb is more into the sewing side....... I'll have to ask her if I can post some photos of craft items, she has sent to me.

So I am just bouncing off the walls with ideas and the thought of trying my hand at becoming a stall holder.

I have an idea of some items I want to knit up and sell.

Just to name a few.

Going to keep a running record on what I spend from tomorrow onwards for the craft stall, so I know if I come out in front after the day our first stall is completed.

A Sheep Called Polly

I Have A Sheep On My Lap

Been a long time coming but I am on the homeward straight with Happy Potter's cardigan.

Last night I got the fronts sewn in to the back part of the cardigan. Did the cuffs on the pockets and knitted up the 2 front bands and the neck band. I even had a fan blowing on me as it was so warm, this sheep on my lap.

Now today all is left is the sewing in of the sleeves and sides. Tidy up and loose ends and it's all finished and ready for Happy Potter to collect. I am leaving the buttons for her to choose as I think buttons can be a personal preference and reflect on the personality of the wearer.

Happy Potter will be over my way in May to see her son and his family. So I'll get to meet her in person when I hand over her cardigan.

Gosh meeting someone for the first time and handing over a knitted cardigan, boy this will be an interesting first meeting.

Can't wait to meet her.

This lady's act of kindness has humbled me with her gift of giving. I am going to knit the wool up into a pair of anklet socks for myself and hang the dream catchers where our cats can't reach them.

Stitch By Stitch

Gee its nice to be able to knit and feel the cool breeze in the house at the same time. Temperature has dropped heaps and yesterday I was so slack and spent the whole day knitting up the first sleeve for Happy Potter's cardigan. Finished it about 10.30 last night. Packed everything up and was in bed and asleep with in the hour.

Refreshing your memory of the cardigan.

I started this cardigan back in Sept 2007 and as long as its knitted up before winter both myself and Happy Potter will be contented.

Its a lovely pattern and I am actually going to knit it up for myself down the track.

Gave my knitting scarf book (only got 1) to Amy last night and said to see if there was one there she liked...... then today I looked on Ravelry and picked a few out I thought were lovely. So I'll get her to have a look at those ones and see if she'd like a style from the list I collected.

She'd love a home knitted scarf and I have always wanted to knit one. Hope to be able to have it knitted up by her birthday in June. Amy can pick out the colour and then she'll not see anything about it until its finished.

Socks To Go Fast In.

My sister Debbie's red sock all finished and ready for her to wear. I wonder if Deb will go faster when she wears these?

Just over 100 gm to knit them in 8 ply on 3.25 mm.

I love these as they are a tighter fit and more of a dress sock shape. Good for wearing with sneakers.

Oh I Have A Lovely Sock.

I am stoked with the end result of the Anastasia sock just finished.

I still have the other sock to knit up and will start that this afternoon.

I did have a problem with knitting the rib up with 2.75 mm needles and after a couple attempts I gave up that idea and frogged a few rows of rib. I then used 3.25 mm sized DPNS and found after finishing the ribbed cuff off, I could slip the sock on over my heel.

Found there wasn't enough room to slip the cuff over my ankle area. Maybe my foot is too wide in this area and by knitting the cuff with the bigger size needles, problem solved.

Pat things they look okay, bit bright for him though. Me I love them and can't wait to have a pair so I can wear them.

Yarn About A Sock.

That sexy sock from 3 posts back wasn't working out right. After I had knitted some more I was getting into bit of a mess with the DPNS and the pattern. So I went back and studied not so much the written pattern but more so the pictures that came with the kitting instructions.

I found the following was wrong...... I was knitting up the right sock and my pattern was going the wrong way. I was knitting from the graph, back to front. Also I was knitting the pattern on the bottom of the sock, when I wasn't meant to.

So I then had to decide whether to ignore the mistake and

muddle through with the needles
frog it back to where I started the pattern
pull it apart and start again.

I picked number 3 as it seemed the easiest of them.

So I started from scratch again and when I was at the toe area, for unpicking the cast on row and pick them up with a DPN..... I buggered it all up and had to start again.

For some reason that next attempt went out the window too. Too many sleeps and rounds of knitting done, to remember why. So for the 4th time I started again.

On this attempt, Milly my little Grandkitty grabbed the ball of wool and under the futon she went. Taking with her the ball and my knitting as well. Where was I to leave the knitting unattended? Getting another drink of water.

Think me screaming as she went with it all, frightened her enough to drop the ball after an almost lap round the floor.

Did I loose the 4th attempt of these socks being knitted??? Nope..... I took it as a sign that all was correct with my 4th try at these socks.

Today's model is "Love Me" from Amy's collection of teddies. He is so soft to cuddle and the sock slipped on nicely without stretching round the needle area. Room to spare as well.

I have without a doubt enjoyed the challenge with this sock pattern. Instead of Pat picking a pattern and saying "can you knit this" and I whiz it up for him. I am having to learn new forms of knitting techniques and having to pull out my thinking cap, dust it off and use it.

Look What I Was Given.

My sister Debbie was down visiting yesterday and while she tried on her red sock for a final fitting, she gave me this pillow for my bed.

I love it and just so thrilled to have it sitting on my bed.

Green is my fav colour and I love how Deb has incorporated the green in the pillow through the threads and ribbon.

Red Ladies Socks.

Last night I got stuck into the red sock I am knitting for my sister Deb. I'll be spending tomorrow with her and I want to show Debbie what her socks will look like.

I haven't grafted the toe area as I want to show Debbie how this is done. She was rather amazed about how tidy the toe end was finished off, with a pair I had completed.

I added 3 rows of white just under the ribbing, to break up the red wool. I think it looks pretty cool and down the road I like to think I could do diamonds and such.

Heel area. The sock reminds me of the dress socks we can buy down at out local shops.

Another 7 days of this heat and so this afternoon I have been knitting up the 4 ply socks. I'll take a photo of that tomorrow and show you how it's knitting up.

Can A Sock Pattern Be Sexy?

Can a sock pattern be sexy? I think they can be.

Sam over on Woolaholics sent me 2 balls of Patonyle sock wool and I am just so enjoying the way the sock is coming alone.

Pat is amused how I am getting excited over 2 balls of wool and he said the way the sock is knitting up, it's so me.

First time I have knitted a pair of socks in 4 ply and also starting from the toe end. Been a learning curb and also its a lot of fun having a challenge with knitting up a toe sock part. Very please how I am not getting "that ladder" along the sides where the DPNS join each other. This did worry me and I was nervous about having a problem with this.

The needle size in the instructions is for 2.5 mm and I couldn't get hold of a set of 4 DPNS, so I bought 2.75 and this seems to be working out perfectly.

So far its smooth knitting.

My sister's down this Friday again and so I'll show Deb how her socks are coming along as well.

Still hot here, for another week they are saying......so the sock knitting shall continue.

Too Hot For Sweater Knitting.

With this hot weather I have been sitting on my bum, knitting. Pat's jumper is now too big for knitting in this heat. Feels like I have a woolly lamb on my lap.

So I started another pair of socks yesterday. Yep! Sad I know...... just socks are great to knit in the hot weather. They don't sit in your lap and heat up the body.

These red socks are for my sister Debbie and I have popped some white rectangles around the top of the stocking stitch, just to break up the red.

Love to pop a link to the pattern for you to see what they look like. But I can't remember where I found them on the net. They are knitted with 8 ply wool and knitted on 3.25 mm needles. So you'll have to wait until they are finished.

Picked up some knitting needles today for the Anastasia sock and will start them this afternoon. The needle size is 2.5 mm in the pattern and I couldn't get a set of 4 DPNS at my LYS. So I am going to use 2.75 mm needles and see how the socks knit up.

Spotlight had 20 % off today store wide... darn shame it was off pay week for us. So I just went straight to the knitting needle area. Would have loved to have had a nosy round...but I was good.

Back On Jumpers.

Not too bad in this heatwave knitting Pat's sweater, makes it easier with the a/running. Though I'd rather be doing socks.
